Meet Brooklyn Buildz: Sunset Park’s dedicated scale modeling makerspace and youth STEAM lab. We provide a distraction-free sanctuary for adult builders and run a structured, screen-free after-school program for kids. Through step-by-step, hands-on model building, we help the next generation trade device fatigue for real-world focus, patience, and creative problem-solving.
-
A little bit of both! We currently don't offer casual drop-in hours, as our schedule is broken into two main paths to ensure the best hands-on learning:
Monthly Programs: Structured, weekly labs where students follow a skill-based progression—just like music lessons.
Skill Labs: Specialized, one-time workshops focused on mastering a single technique, like custom dioramas or panel lining.
Check out our Learning Labs menu to see what fits your goals, and look out for open weekend workshops.

People already have different preferences, budgets, and interests.
When you bring in your own kits:You build what you’re excited about
There’s no pressure to buy inventory from us
Costs stay predictable and transparent
We provide all the tools, instructions, and guidance, and we’re happy to recommend or approve kits in advance.
-
That’s completely fine—and very common.
Most students start at the Beginner Builder level, where we focus on:
Tool safety
Reading instructions
Clean assembly techniques
No prior experience is required.
-
Yes. Safety is our TOP PRIORITY!
Age-appropriate tools
Clear safety rules
Small group instruction
Active supervision at all times
Students are taught proper tool use before building begins.
-
Most students are ages 8+
We place kids by skill level, not age, so beginners and experienced builders both feel comfortable. -
That’s a common concern—and one we plan for.
Because this is a structured program with visible progress, most kids stay engaged once they see improvement and feel proud of their work.
Memberships are month-to-month after the first month, with simple cancellation if needed.
-
Class sizes are intentionally kept small to ensure:
Individual attention
Safe tool use
Meaningful instruction
Spots are limited.

All gear and supplies are included.

We’re still new so our paints are limited to Tamiya, DSPIAE XG Series, Vallejo, and Citadel Paints. You’re always welcome to bring your own as long as they fit our no lacquer spray or aerosols policy.

Cosplay props and armor pieces

Diorama bases and scenery
Any other paintable or buildable item that fits on a standard workbench. If you're unsure, just send us a photo in advance and we'll confirm it's a good fit.
-
Yes, you can. Our ventilated spray booth and professional airbrush stations are well-suited for painting cosplay props, 3d prints and armor. However, we are strict on a NO lacquer based paints, so please bring your own non toxic paints to use. We do have a small courtyard where we can paint your larger items with aerosols but you must protect the walls and furniture. Please contact us in advance to discuss the size of your project to ensure it fits comfortably in our workspace and to confirm the best time to book your session.

It's our free, weekly community build night held every Thursday from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. It's a social, low-pressure evening where builders of all skill levels gather to work on their own projects, share tips, and hang out in a creative environment.
-
We recommend booking a free spot through our website or Eventbrite so we know how many benches to prepare. However, drop-ins are also welcome if space is available.

These are special events that build on our regular Gunpla & Chill format. They feature a faction-based competition with fun voting categories and a grand prize for the winner. They are a great way to meet other fans, show off your skills, and win a new kit. Check our events page for upcoming dates.
